At Evergreen Rehab and Wellness our Surrey and Coquitlam/Lougheed based chiropractic offices have designed a disc management program to aid in our patients active rehabilitation and pain relief. Our Disc Management program focuses on the bodies spinal disks, which are gel-like cushions between the bones of the spine. Our Disk Management therapy focuses on promoting the rejuvenation of blood flow and ease of tension on the spinal nerves through a combination of spinal decompression and flexion distraction table treatments. Benefits of Combination Disk Management

Here at Evergreen Rehab and Wellness our chiropractors utilize non-surgical spinal decompression combined with chiropractic treatments on the flexion table to maximise the benefits of disk management therapy. We have created our Disc Management treatment system to maximise the effectiveness in treating spinal pain, rehabilitating bulging or herniated discs, and worn joints. Additionally, our Disc Management treatments can be used to help revitalize worn spinal joints, known as posterior facet syndrome, and injured spinal nerves by relieving pressure. Our medical experts also recommend combination disk management for patients suffering from sciatica, which is pain, weakness, or tingling that extends down the leg.

What is a Spinal Decompression Machine?
What is a Flexion Distraction Table?

A flexion distraction table is a special table that allows our chiropractors to distract and flex the spine. Unlike a normal chiropractic table, a flexion table was developed to work best with slow and controlled movements, rather than quick and hard movements. With this particular table, the chiropractor manipulates the patient’s body by moving portions of the table, instead of a more hands-on approach which requires physically manipulating the patient’s limbs and torso. By using a flexion table we are able to generate an automated and gentle rhythmic motion in the patient’s spine. At Evergreen Rehab and Wellness our chiropractic doctors will combine our spinal decompression therapy with chiropractic treatments on the flexion table to resolve the disc herniation and manage disk pain.

Spinal decompression therapy involves stretching the spine using a traction table or similar motorized device, with the goal of relieving back pain and/or leg pain and aid in disk management therapy. This procedure is known as nonsurgical decompression therapy. This is to distinguish it from surgical spinal decompression, which requires non invasive or invasive surgery. Nonsurgical spinal decompression is a type of chiropractic treatment utilizing motorized traction which has potential to relieve back pain and aid in disk management therapy. Spinal decompression works by gently stretching the spine which changes the force and position of the spine. This change takes pressure off the patients spinal disks by creating a negative pressure force in the disc. This results in bulging or herniated disks retraction which in turn takes pressure off their nerves and other musculature. This, when combined with manual chiropractic treatments on the flexion table helps promote movement of blood to the disks for optimal healing..

How Our Treatments work

At Evergreen Rehab and Wellness we personalize our treatment plan to fit our patients unique and individual needs. For our combination Disc Management system we first meet with the patient to determine their symptoms and their underlying conditions. From there, we craft a clinical treatment plan designed to provide relief from their spinal symptoms.

While the duration and frequency of our combination Disc Management system varies between patients the method of treatment is similar. For spinal decompression therapy you will be fully clothed either face down or face up on a computer-controlled table. Our chiropractors will control the computer, customizing the treatment to your specific needs.

For our flexion distraction table treatment portion, the chiropractor will ask the patient to lie face down on a flexion distraction table. The chiropractor will then use the table to maneuver the body into positions with specific up and down as well as side to side motions. Once in position, our chiropractor begins the adjustment process. We utilize the flexion distraction technique in order to focus on slow, deliberate movements instead of rapid motions. By doing the long, slow motions our chiropractors create pressure in certain areas and reduce pressure in others, which can allow the discs to move back to a more optimal position. Additionally, this adjustment technique distributes nutrients into the spinal discs. In order for our chiropractors to maximise our patients comfort and treatment results they will adjust the physical movements as needed.

Pretty good RMT (registered massage therapy) experience. They do direct billing to 1 provider. Location can be a bit hard to find at first. Can park in the underground parking lot. When you walk back up the parking lot ramp, Evergreen is on the right past the 504 sign.

Suji Hong, the acupuncturist, is the best I’ve ever known. I had foot injuries that lasted for a couple of months, but after receiving three sessions of needle treatments from her, the pain is gone! She is very professional and caring, and she pinpoints the exact areas where I have issues. If you are looking for a trustworthy acupuncturist in town, I would highly recommend her :)
