Gonstead Chiropractic Care

What is the Gonstead Chiropractic?

The Gonstead Chiropractic focuses on the dynamics of intervertebral discs causing the subluxations resulting in any neurological dysfunction. The Gonstead procedures are the result of extensive clinical research by Dr. Clarence S.Gonstead and his associates. In this system information from a different mode of analysis is applied and collated to the findings to determine the most likely cause of the problem the patient is facing.

The Gonstead Chiropractor conducts a thorough analysis of the spine using various diagnostics in order to find out the presence of vertebral subluxation complex.

How does it work?

The Gonstead system involves performing a complete analysis of the spine. Several Diagnostic criteria are included in this system as follows (but not limited to):

  • Visualization. First, a Gonstead chiropractor starts to examine the posture and the movements to identify the areas with the problem.
  • Static Palpation. The patient is brought to a stationary position when the chiropractor checks the spine for any type of swelling, tenderness, or tightness, or any abnormal textures present on your muscles and tissues on your back.
  • Motion Palpation. The chiropractor feels the patient’s spine movement as it moves and bends. This can help in determining if there's an issue on each segment of your spine when it is moving in different directions.
  • X-Ray Analysis. Lastly, an X-ray analysis is done. This allows the chiropractor to visually evaluate posture, disc integrity, and alignment. With an X-ray, he can simply see the entire structure of the spine. The patient will be taken full-spine radiographs in standing and weight-bearing positions to come up with complete examination findings.

And that is what makes this system unique - it undergoes a detailed check and analysis. The Adjustment will then follow after a thorough analysis.

The Components

Below, we have highlighted the main components of Gonstead.

X-rays: These provide accurate vertebral count, full spinal contour representation for posture analysis with axial weight-bearing. This allows them to regard patients in analysis and provides corrective actions for them.

Palpation: These include static and motion palpation. Static palpation indicates a change in contour, temperature, tone, and texture on the patient whereas Motion palpation indicates subluxation and its listing.

Visualization: the patient is taken into account from the moment they walk in by observing them and by looking at the X-ray results and palpation findings.

Case Management: Case management known as Symptomatology is the study of symptoms associated with your problem. Symptoms can help separate Sympathetic and Parasympathetic (parts of the Autonomic Nervous System) that aids in the application of an adjustment.

The Gonstead Chiropractic (technique)

This is done after the complete analysis when the Gonstead chiropractor is ready to deliver any adjustments. When providing these adjustments, a Gonstead Chiropractor ensures the right posture to provide the most accurate and painless adjustments possible. The focus of these chiropractic adjustments is to provide specific, concise, and precise, and much accurate as possible addressing the areas of subluxation.

Restoring and maintaining the optimal health of the patient by finding and correcting and optimizing the nervous system is the main goal of Chiropractors.
