Martin Olson is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). He completed his Masters in Counselling Psychology at the University of Victoria. He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of British Columbia in Chemistry, Life Sciences, and Earth & Environmental Sciences.
He currently works as a counsellor remotely and is part of the Coquitlam Evergreen Clinic. Martin believes in taking a holistic approach with therapy and wellness, which means looking at health from various dimensions: biological, psychological, social, cultural and spiritual.
He also believes that therapy starts with creating a strong connection between the therapist and client. This builds a foundation of trust and openness, which allows the client to authentically explore and understand their experience, thoughts and beliefs. From here the client gains greater awareness and becomes increasingly empowered to see things in new ways, leading to greater wellbeing and life satisfaction.
Martin draws from various perspectives and modalities to support his approach, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), humanistic, existential, positive psychology, mindfulness, and neuroscience.
